MFSTC Newsletter

The in Person meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by President, Mike McCullough. Mike introduced the club officers, Vice President, Dwayne Meanor, Treasurer, Mr. Gary Pennington and Mr. Tom Burleson, Secretary and Newsletter. Mike acknowledged all the volunteers and thanked them for their service.

Mini Hunt: We had our monthly Mini Hunt this month. They start at 6:30 PM prior to the 7:00 PM meeting.

Refreshments: Pizza was provided by the club again this month.

Thank You: Tom Ferrell and Ed Stratton for helping with the raffles and Dave Franz for handing out the door prize tickets.

March’s Club Outing: The outing was held on Saturday March 5th at the Kirwan House on Kent Island. We had seven members attend.

Next Month Club Outing: For more details contact Kevin Weis or Dwayne Meanor (Bear)

Upcoming Outings: Metal Detecting Society Will have a seeded hunt on Saturday June 3rd at 9:00 AM. It will be in Pittsville Md. The cost is $40.00 per person. Our Members only hunt will be October 7, 2023, Members only hunt will be October 7, 2023

Buddy List: This is a list of people needing or giving assistance with their type of Metal Detector. Anyone is interested in joining the Buddy list see Andy Cooper.

Gold and Diamond Testing: See Nathan Pressler if you need something checked out. Testing will be done in March, June, September, and November.

Club Library: See John Vise the Librarian

Membership Chairman: Dennis Powers

New Business: Will Stoffel volunteered to take over the position as Web Master. Thank you Will! We still need volunteers to serve as backups for the Completion Board and the Secretary.

Found: The club was contacted by two people that had lost rings this month. One in Frederick Md and one in Baltimore City. Terry Miller and Mike McCullough found them on the same day. Good job guys!

Presentation: Bob Rinker presented a PowerPoint entitled Detecting and Wildlife. This presentation was about all the snakes in Maryland. It was very interesting and informative. Thank you, Bob!

Donations: As you know from last month’s meeting Alvin (Bud) Lamb passed away and donated most of his Metal Detectors and equipment to the club. A few items were sold this month for a total of $450.00. There is still a lot of equipment left for sale. If you are interested, please contact Terry Miller.

New Activities: For 2023 three scavenger hunts will be conducted, in the months of February, May and October. Brass tokens will be buried by Ed Stratton in February, April and September, and when discovered, traded for coins. Clues for each hunt will only be distributed at our monthly meetings. Congratulations to Evan Werner he found the February token.
